JOIN WOMEN UNITED WITH THE FIGHT AGAINST DIABETES
DID YOU KNOW:
11% of adults in Trumbull County have diabetes. Many of these are senior citizens on limited budgets with multiple health issues. When they reach their Medicare coverage gap, they are often faced with high co-payments and begin to parse their medication or have to make difficult choices on how to spend their money.
250+prescriptions have been funded by Women United since launching the program in the fall of 2019.
200% is the increase in the cost of insulin in the last decade.
$150 is the average cost of a co-payment for insulin for seniors and diabetes related medications for seniors in our program. However, the cost may be as high as $750 when seniors fall into the "coverage gap" of Medicare. When you add that to other medication costs, some are paying hundreds of dollars that could be equivalent to a house payment.

One of the first issues the group has chosen to tackle is the diabetes epidemic in Trumbull County. More than 22,000 people in our community are struggling with this life-threatening disease. It affects both their physical and financial well-being. Women United is committed to helping people prevent and manage diabetes by growing awareness and providing financial assistance to those in need. We are also committed to the personal and professional development of women in Trumbull County.
